Stamp TV CSS Alumni Blog Hop

Hey, there! Today I get the priveledge of participating in another Stamp TV CSS blog hop! If you've come from the talented Giovanna Smith's blog, you've landed in the right place!  If not, make sure to go to our main forum on StampTV so you don't miss out on all the inspiration! :)

This time the CSS alumni were challenged to make a card according to these specificaitons:

  • Your design must be CAS - Clean And Simple: lots of white or open space with one main focal point
  • One image
  • One sentiment
  • One layer card - your card base plus only one more layer
  • Embellishments - you can use any number of embellishments you want, but they all must be the same color

It was a little more challenging that I thought it would be but I was able to do it! Here is what I came up with:
I started off with a Gina K Pure Luxury card stock base in Kraft.  I used one of the labels from Nina Brackett's "Lovely Labels" set for my one layer and focal image.  The sentiment was from Gina K's Spring Mix stamp set and it was stamped in Memento Pear Tart.  I colored the flowers with copic markers YG03, G24, G28.  I added the pearls for my embellishments and that was it!   Clean and super simple!

CPS #189

Hi, fellow bloggers! Today I have a card using Layers of Color's new release "Bird Queen cling art stamp" and their beautiful "Belle Brocade" art stencil. The adorable sentiment came from Nina Brackett's "Fanciful Tags" GKD stamp set.  I'm entering this card into the Card Positioning System's sketch challenge 183.

Isn't this Bird Queen image just so cool!?  I absolutely love it!  I colored it with Copic markers then brushed over the brown sections with a copper pearlescent glaze (which I'm so bummed did not show up in the photo).  This is just one of 12 new red rubber cling art stamps that are available now!  You have to go check them out!

Also, did you know that Layers of Color is a Spellbinders Preferred Stamp Company? Yes!  They have many stamps designed specifically to fit Spellbinders dies!

That beautiful pattern in the three background panels is the Belle Brocade stencil I mentioned above.  Isn't it just gorgeous?!  It is one of seven beautiful art stencils that LOC offers.   Go here to check them all out--they really are just beautiful!  I stenciled this one in SU Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze and More Mustard.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!  Make sure to stop by and say hi to us over on the Layers of Color Facebook page!  :)

Much love,
Janice  :)

Pleats and a FUN color combo!

Alrighty, here goes another Color Challenge at StampTV!  This time, I was inspired by some Paper Tape made by 7 Gypsies that I discovered at my LSS (Crop Paper Scissors).  The set that they had was called "Gypsy Market" and I fell in love with it! Look at these colors:
Aren't they just FAB?!  Make sure you hop on over to Stamp TV and play along with me this week! ;)

Now, here is the card I made with these trendy colors:
Isn't is fun?!  I wanted to play along in Moxie Fab World's "Perfectly Pleated" Challenge and thought that using the paper tape to make them would be just perfect!  That tape is super fun and I know I'm going to be using it A LOT!  ;)

The "Simply Fabulous" sentiment came from Nina Brackett's "Fanciful Tags" stamp set and the DP is Dear Lizzy.  The adorable brad is from The Girls' Paperie and of course, that super fun and trendy paper tape is 7 Gypsies "Gypsy Market."

Thanks SO MUCH for looking!  Have a simply FABULOUS day!  ;0)

Oaks of Righteousness Cake

Hi, everyone!  This post is going to be on the Edible art side of my craftiness.  My good friend Tiffany asked me to make a cake for her "Gender Reveal Party" that she and her husband Matt where throwing to reveal the sex of her fifth child.  They have four precious boys and wanted to do something fun for their fifth child.  She wanted a fun cake with either pink or blue icing in the center but nothing to show the sex on the outside--that would be a surprise until the cake was cut.  Of course, she didn't find out the sex of the baby until today, so I've been busy busy these past few days creating trees, acorns and leaves, and today the work really began as I found out the gender and had to get the cake ready to go by before the party at 8. :)

The last part of Isaiah 61:3 says this, " They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor."

This is a verse that they have cherished and pray over their four boys, and in talking with them I came up with the idea to make an "Oaks of Righteousness" cake for the reveal!  I thought, "Well, if it is another boy then this would just be PERFECT. And if it was a girl, well, there are girl oak trees, too, so we can't go wrong!"  Tiff and Matt loved the idea and I ran with it!  :)

Here is a close up of one of the Oaks.  The tree trunks where made out of Chocolate fondant that I shaped into tree form then drew the design on.  The tops where also made out of fondant, then added tip 352 leaves in buttercream.

Here is the cake "mostly" finished. The finished cake had the name of their four boys, one on each tree on the bottom cake, and a question mark on the top tree.

Fun angle shot.  Do you see the design on the cake itself?  That was made by using none other than my "Forest Branches" Cuttlebug Embossing folder!  Seriously!  Who said a paper crafting tool couldn't be used for cake decorating? ;)  The acorns and leaves were also made out of fondant. (Forgive the twine around the trees, I had already tied it up in prep for transport when I thought to take the pics!  I didn't want to risk taking it off, putting it back on again and possibly messing up the leaves so I just left it alone in hopes that Tiff got some good pics sans twine at the party!)

Thanks so much for looking!

PS. The icing inside the cake: PINK!  ;)

Hey, y'all!  I am so excited about Layers of Color New Release coming soon on October 11th!!!! Woo hoo!!!  LOC's new images are just GORGEOUS!  You will love them!

Now, for today's preview I am going to show you a couple of new releases, "Embroidered Butterfly" and a bit of the super cool "Brick Wall" image.
Don't you just love that embroidered butterfly!?  To color her I actually just spayed some Tattered Angels spray mist in "Brick" and when back and colored in some sections with my Copic marker R59, adding some clear Stickles for added bling.  :)  I also included the smaller butterfly image from LOC's "Flutterescent" art stamp set.

And, look at that awesome "Brick Wall" image!  Isn't so great!?  To create my weathered/outdoorsy look on it I sprayed it with some Tsukeniko Walnut Ink and highlighted sections with a Prismacolor colored pencil.  The "Merci" sentiment came from LOC's "Merci Bouquet" art stamp set.

Stay tuned as I'm going to be sharing some fun sneak peeks and previews throughout this week!!!  Also, make sure to check out the other Design Team's blogs for more sneak peeks and previews throughout this week:

Good morning, everyone!  Today is World Card Making Day!  Woo hoo!  Card Makers around the world are celebrating today by, well, making cards of course!  ;)  We are out of town and away from my scrap space so sadly, I will not be joining in the celebrations physically, but I'm with ya in spirit!  :)

I do have some exciting news to share.  Layers of Color is adding a new Design Team member:

I was thrilled when I heard she was joining our team!  She has been a dear "online" friend to me for a little while now.  I am so thankful for her kind heart and her love for Jesus.

So, in honor of her joining our LOC team and in honor of WCMD, here is one of her beautiful creations using LOC stamps:

Jennie used Belle Brocade Art Stencil and Joyful Noise clear art stamps set on her.  I love Jennie's style--it's a mix of clean and simple with a lovely dose of elegance!  ;)

Go on over to her BLOG to get more inspiration and show her some love!  :)
