Designing for Theresa Momber

Good evening, everyone! Tonight I have a card using Theresa Momber's newest stamp set called "Aloha." I chose to use the cute Toucan image from her set along with the palm tree image that you can see peeking up from behind the ribbon.
I colored the Toucan using Prismacolor colored pencils and embossed the palm tree image and "Mahalo" sentiment.
Thanks so much for looking! Go check out Theresa's blog here, where she is featuring another one of my cards using her Aloha set! Be blessed!

Beautiful Peacock

Good evening, everyone!  Tonight I have a second card for the Gina K Designs Design Team Challenge.  I used the same set as the one before, "Pretty as a Peacock," because I love it so much!  Peacocks rock!  ;)  Anyway, competition is stiff this time around! Sharon Harnist submitted an entry!  Yikes--so much for a chance at some fabulous stamps!  She is on the Copic Markers design team and many others, too!

This time around I once again colored the peacock image in Prismacolor color pencils and accented with Pearl Ex powders.  I embossed Nina's beautiful doily image in a dark purple and the sentiment in white.

Thanks so much for looking!  Be blessed!

GinaK Design Team Blog Hop Challenge

Hello, friends! Well, it's that time again when GinaK challenges us to play along with her designers and create a project that could possibly land us her entire release for August and a guest design spot! Now if that is not motivation to play along, I don't know what is! You can go to Gina's blog to get more information. :)

Gina challenged us to choose a favorite StampTV video and make a card using the technique it features. I chose this video showing how to heat emboss. Believe it or not, Gina introduced me to heat embossing through that video! I was so excited by this easy technique that I regularly enclude it in my card making. :)  I also used Pearl Ex powders over my Copic coloring to give my peacock a bit more shimmer.

I chose to use "Pretty as a Peacock" stamp set for this card because ever since I saw the previews for it I fell in love!  The images are just so beautiful and the sentiments are perfect!

Thanks so much for looking and have a fabulous day!  :)

Seeds of Kindness Blog Hop

Good evening from the beautiful Keystone, Colorado!  My family and I have been enjoying the cool weather and beautiful mountains this past week!  We have a few more days of paradise before we head back home on Tuesday (sigh).

I prepared a card in advance for this Seeds of Kindness Blog Hop knowing that I would be gone and not able to  create.  So, without further ado, here it is:

I used the African Violet image from Seeds of Kindness.  Don't you just love this little plant?!  I colored it with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment with Memento ink.

For more details on the card kit that is included with the purchase of the Seeds of Kindness stamp set, please click here.  Then, to see even more samples with this versatile stamp set, visit these designer's blog links who are participating in the hop tonight:

Then, for even more inspiration be sure to check out the Idea Center for all the samples that everyone has shared in the StampTV gallery.

Trigger Tuesday: Popping off the Page

Good afternoon, to ya!  This afternoon I have a card that I'm entering into Moxie Fab World: Tuesday Trigger challenge.  Here is the trigger that we were to use as our inspiration:
Isn't it gorgeous?!  I think I was drawn to the fun/abstract-ish look of it.  It is just so striking with the black and white and bits of color.

Here is my take on it.  I chose to make paper roses in similar colors and brought in the black in white with this gorgeous Layers of Color butterfly from their "Flutterescent" art stamp set.

And a couple of up close shots.  I used Layers of Color "Gothic Crosses" art stamp set to create the background on these roses.

And on these roses, Layers of Color "Joyful Noise" art stamp set.  It was just the right look I was going for!

Thanks so much for looking and have a wonderful day!  :)

Beautiful Peacock!

Hey there! Tonight I have a card that I've been itching to make ever since I saw this peacock image! This beautiful bird came from Gina K Designs, "Pretty as a Peacock" stamp set--isn't it just gorgeous?! I think I fell in love at first sight! ;) Since the peacock image has a lot of detail I decided to color him with Prismacolor colored pencils. Now, that gorgeous flourish you see behind him is a Layers of Color art stencil called "Natural Flourish" and doesn't it just accent the peacock beautifully! I painted the stencil using my new favorite medium, Tim Holtz's Distress Crackle Paint in "Peeled Paint," then highlighted it a bit with a white gel pen that I partly went over in orange. Kristine Breach gave me that idea in her beautiful project here. I sprayed the stencil with removable spray adhesive and was so pleased with how clear the image turned out (if you've ever stenciled using acrylic paint you know that it can be tricky to get a clear image). Well, I thought the bird was so beautiful that I just couldnt' help but give him some lace and pearls for accents! :)

I'm entering this card into the StampTV Color Challenge for this past Monday: to use turquoise, green and orange on a project.

Thanks so much for looking! I love reading everyone's comments--I feel so encouraged by all of you who do. Thank you! :)

Color Throwdown #100

Hello, everyone! I feel like I haven't posted in forever! Not sure that I like that feeling! Tonight I have a card that I made for COLOR THROWDOWN's 100th Color Challenge. I just found out about this site thanks to my sweet StampTV friend, Jennie, and when I saw the color combo (and all the prizes!!!) I just had to participate! Go here to see the challenge for yourself! The color challenge was to use Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Real Red and Baja Blue in your project.

For my entry I chose to use some amazing stamps (and stencils) that I've recently become well acquainted with and love--Layers of Color! Their clear art stamps and stencils are just beautiful and so easy to work with (they're affordable, too!)! It seems like all I have to do is sit down, look at the stamps and inspiration comes!

So for tonight's card, I used Layers of Color art stencil "Botanical Swirl" and these clear art stamps sets: "Nature Walk" and "Backyard Birds." Before stenciling I painted the base of the card with one of my new favorite mediums with Tim Holtz's Distress Crackle Paint in "Peeled Paint." Thanks so much for looking everyone! :)

Exciting News Part-2! ;)

Alright, all I have to say is July is a BUSY month for me!  Busy but also fun!  My fun news tonight is that I am also guest designing for Theresa Momber this month!!!  Wild.  Crazy!  I know!  And that is not even the BEST part of my news yet!  You will have to wait a couple of weeks for that, but let me tell you, I am EXCITED!!!!

Ok, I've calmed down now.  On to what I'd like to show you tonight!  ;)  Tonight was the release party over at StampTV for their July releases (you must go check out their latest stamp sets--so awesome!!!!) so, I held off on showing these projects until tonight.  Using Theresa's new "Aloha" stamp set, I made some party favors and a banner for Judah's Hawaiian themed party.

All of the images you see here are from her set; the Hibiscus, palm tree, sand, surfer dude ;), and even the "Mahalo" sentiment which means "Thank You" in Hawaiian.  I added the waves and sponged with Memento inks to create the sunset and sky.  I colored the gorgeous Hibiscus with Copic markers.

And here is the banner I made.  After cutting the triangles with my BossKut Gazelle,  I heat embossed the Hibiscus image using VersaMark  and white embossing powder--super simple, but super cute!

And as many of you know, I also make cakes.  This time around I went for an untraditional birthday cake, Pineapple Upside Down cake!  My fabulous friend Olya reminded me to take a picture with my edible creation before it was gone!

And of course, I couldn't post about my son's birthday without showing you his cute little self!  Here he is having a blast in the pool:

Stay tuned for some more projects showcasing Theresa's newest set!  Thanks so much for looking!  :)
