GinaK Designs--Seeds of Kindness Preview!

Hi, Everyone!  Tonight I have the first part of the super exciting news I mentioned last week:  I'm Guest Designer for GinaK Designs Card Kit stamp set for July!!!  Woo Hoo!!!  When Gina asked me if I would be interested I thought to myself, "Are you kidding???  Guest design for one of my FAVORITE stamp and paper crafts companies???  YES, please!"  ;)

So, I get the privilege of previewing "Seeds of Kindness"--GinaK Designs Card Kit stamp set for July.  Purchase this set and get a free card kit along with it!  Nice!

Here is my first card:
For this card I used GinaK's wonderful quality Pure Luxury card stock in "In the Navy," "Tan Leather" and White.  I embossed the stripes on the white and added the burlap garland and leather strip to give it and "outside the house" feel.  Don't you love that sentiment too?  Too cute!  The silver brads and green ribbon are also GinaK and you can find them here.

And my second card:
When I first saw this image I knew I would have so much fun coloring it!  I just love these potted plants!  I started off with a "Tan Leather" base, then a strip of "Chocolate Brown" layered with a strip of white on which I stamped the potted plants image a few times in Memento Cottage Ivy.  I then layered the burlap panel onto the strips of brown leather and placed the nestibilites labels four cut out on it.  After coloring and cutting out the potted plants image, I adhered it to the Labels four cut out with pop dots.  Added the ribbon to tie it all together and the brads and sentiment finished it up!

Well, did I do alright guest designing?  I had a blast creating these card and look forward to making some more!  :)  Thanks so much for stopping by--I really appreciate it!

Last Week Designing for Melanie Muenchinger

Good evening!  I'm here tonight with my last post designing for Melanie Muenchinger.  I have had so much fun making cards using her "Candles on Your Cake" stamp set this past month!  It is such a versatile set with such great images for birthdays and celebrations of all sorts.

In light of this past Father's Day, I decided to make cards for this week with a masculine theme!  Here is the first card I made:

To start off, I stamped the "happy birthday" sentiment with Versamark to create the background, then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  To give it a bit of a "rougher" look, I then sprayed the front of the card with Walnut Ink by Tsukineko and rubbed it in a bit with a sponge dauber.  I then cut out my window and adhered the candle image that I had also heat embossed in clear (then cut out) to the base of the card.  I also adhered two strips of leather to the top and bottom of the base of the card.  After that, I wrapped a bit of burlap garland around the middle and attached my sentiment piece using a leather cord.  Do you think I pulled off "manly birthday card"? ;)

Thank you so much for looking!  If you want to see my second masculine themed card go check out Melanie's blog!  :)

Also, stay tuned as I have some super exciting news that I'm going to be sharing soon!!!  :)

Gina K Designs Favorite Summer Memory Challenge

Well, for some reason that I cannot think of, I thought we were only allowed to enter once into the GinaK Designs Favorite Summer Memory Challenge and only made one card which I posted here. BUT, thankfully I was wrong! I decided to go ahead and make another entry based on another one of my favorite memories about summer: enjoying the great outdoors! As kids, we basically lived outside. ;) I loved going on hikes as a family or playing in creeks with my brothers and sister or climbing the big Magnolia tree in our backyard, the list goes on!

I have such wonderful memories of the outdoors which is probably why I absolutely love going on hikes, camping, mountain bike riding and pretty much anything that gets me outside! I mean, seriously, how can you not love to look upon God's beautiful creation in it's prime?

So, my card today tries to encapsulte the beauty that is out there just waiting for us to gaze upon and give glory back to the One who created it. I hope it makes you smile and takes you out doors!

Card Stock: GinaK Designs Pure Luxury Card Stock in Fresh Asparagus and Black Onyx
Ink: Memento in Tuxedo Black, New Sprout, , Pear Tart, Bamboo Leaves, Cottage Ivy
Stamped floral images were colored with Copic markers.

Thanks so much for looking and wish me luck!!! :)

Designing with Melanie Muenchinger Week 3!

Hi, everyone!!! Here I am, week 3 designing for Melanie Muenchinger!

Today, I have a fun card I made using Cosmo Cricket's Cherry Pie designer paper line--isn't super cute?! For this card, I used the larger cake base from Melanie's "Candles on Your Cake" stamp set. I wanted to paper pierce the image, so I inked it up with clear embossing ink then cut along the the edge of the slighty visible image--worked perfectly! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to see the image but if you've worked with embossing ink before you know that it has a bit of a glossy look to it before it dries. For the candle I chose one of the larger of the candle images, the super cute, polka dotted one. :)

For the sentiment piece, I stamped one of Nina Brackett's Lovely Labels ( her polka dotted label) but cut out the center circle to use as the base for stamping the "make a wish" sentiment. In the middle of the cherries that I paper pierced from the DP, I placed those adorable little heart images. That little heart image and the sentiment are, of course, from Melanie's "Candles on Your Cake" set--she really has a way of including GOBS of super cute images in her sets!

GinaK Designs Challenge!

Hi, everyone! Today I have a card that I am entering into the GinaK Designs challenge this month. Gina challenged us to create a card or project based on our favorite summer memory. I have so many awesome summer memories from childhood and adulthood, but I must admit some of my recent faves have involved a little "firecracker" named Judah! My little guy will turn TWO this Fourth of July. While everyone else was enjoying barbecue and getting ready to watch fireworks on July 4, 2008, I was giving birth to a super sweet little baby boy! ;) So for the past couple of years, this patriotic holiday has meant more to me than just barbeque and fireworks!

Here are a  couple pics of my youngest sweetie.  He is acting like a pirate in this first one and being his joyful self in the next!

On the card, I used Tami Mayberry's "Stars" and Melanie Muenchinger's "Candles on Your Cake" stamp sets to create my "fireworks." Don't you just love those stars?! I think they are the coolest! The little star image came from Melanie's birthday set (which, along with this cute little star, has many other images that can be used for other occasion cards of projects!).

Thanks so much for stopping by and wish me luck! The person Gina picks will win three of the soon to be released Gina K Designs stamp sets--NICE! :)

Celebrate with Strawberries on your Cake!

Hi, everyone! Tonight I have a card to show ya that I was going to use as next week's designing with Melanie Muenchinger's post but after I saw this post here over on Melanie's blog I just had to enter it into her challenge! Her challenge was to make a card based on one of MY cakes!!! :) This cake right here:

I made this groom's cake for a friend of ours wedding and it's one of my favorite creations! Of course, the best thing about it are those draping strawberries!  I had never made a cascade of strawberries on a cake before and was overjoyed when I discovered that toothpicks worked marvelously in getting those strawberries to stay put!

Anyway, as I was thinking of another card to make using Melanie's" Candles on your Cake" set, I got this CRAZY ;)  idea to use one of the fabulous ladies from Asela Hopkin's "Sew Pretty" stamp set.  After coloring this beautiful lady and paper piercing her outfit, I cut the tips of the fingers off of the hand that was holding the clutch.  Then, turned them over (so that the fingers would line up naturally) and outlined her fingers in brown to match the ink I stamped her in (Memento-Rich Cocoa).  I colored them, then glued them to the bottom of the cake plate (just cut around and a bit away from the bottom of Melanie's smaller cake stamp to create a plate for it).  I stuck a pop dot on the center back of the cake and popped it right down where it would look as if she were holding up the cake, showing it off!!  Don't you just love it?!  ;)  I was thrilled with the way it turned out!  There is just something about  her expression that is priceless, especially now that she is holding a cake!  Kinda like, "Yes, it's beautiful I know.  Thank you, thank you very much," said in a haughty but playful kind of way.  :)

Designing for Melanie Muenchinger Week 2!

Hi, everyone!  Here I am in week 2  designing for Melanie Muenchinger!  The cards I've made this week were just so much fun!  Of course, I used Melanie's newest stamp set "Candles on Your Cake."

Here is the card I'm showing tonight, isn't so fun?!  :)

I used the larger of the two "cake" stamps and stamped the cute little flower on it to create the pattern on the cake.  I used the bigger of the candles for a more dramatic effect and made sure to use the coordinating "flower flame" stamp.  The sentiment also came straight from the set, I simply inked the "happy" and stamped it, then inked the "birthday" and stamped it so that the whole sentiment would fit in the tag.

The flower images that are popped up came from the GinaK Designs "Spring Mix" stamp set and the adorable butterflies are also GKD, but from the "Dream Birds" stamp set.

Card Stock: GinaK Pure Luxury Card Stock in Lemon Drop and Cream de Menthe
Ribbon: Martha Stewart
DP: AdornIt Carolee's Creations-Sprouting Flowers

Thanks so much for looking!  Please go to Melanie's blog to see my other creation for the week--it is a Vintage themed birthday card and I really love how it turned out!  :)

Orange, Pink and Green

Well, Carla over at StampTV came up with a great color combo challenge: Orange, Pink and Green! NOT three colors I would think go well together, but they do!!! I love that they give a fun summer feel! Of course, I had to "dress" the card up a bit (just can't help that!) and added some bling and that gorgeous lace stamp from the "Vintage Backgrounds" stamp set by Nina Brackett. The leaves, little flowers and butterfly are from "Hope Grows" by Theresa Momber.

I'm also entering this card in sketch challenge #170 from Card Positioning Systems.

And, this makes the cut for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge for this week, too! Nice!  The challenge is to have some kind of animal or creeping bug on it--butterfly's can creep, right?  ;)

Thanks so much for looking! Stay tuned for my "Designing for Melanie Muenchinger: Week 2" post coming mid week. If you missed my first week designing for her you can find it here. :)

Blast from the Past Challenge on StampTV

I entered this in the Blast from the Past Challenge on StampTV this week. The technique featured was the "shaving cream" technique where you use shaving cream and ink to create that swirly background you see on my card. It is a bit of a messy technique but it creates really pretty designs that look like marble!

Cardstock: GinaK Pure Luxury card stock in Passionate Pink and Lemon Drop
Stamps: Theresa Momber's "Hope Grows" stamp set colored with Copic markers
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby

Moxie Fab World Trigger Tuesday

I absolutely LOVED the Moxie Fab World trigger this past Tuesday.  Look at this absolutely beautiful wedding table:

And here is my take on it:

As you can see, I was inspired by the color combination.  That beautiful bouquet of flowers on my card are from Melanie Muenchinger's stamp set "A Year of Flowers."  The beautiful doily is from Nina Brackett's "Nana's Needlework." The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Russian doll set.

Thanks so much for looking!  :)

Designing for Melanie Muenchinger Week 1!

Good afternoon, crafting friends! This is my first official week designing for Melanie Muenchinger!!! Woo hoo! I will be showcasing Melanie's newest GinaK Designs rubber stamp set, "Candles on your Cake!" It is a darling set that is just perfect for any type of birthday card or project. The sentiments on this set are so versatile, offering lots of variation to the type of birthday card or project you make. You can even use the set for other celebration cards or projects as you will see in these next few weeks! ;0) Make sure you check out her blog to see more beautiful projects as well as another card I made for my sweet 2 yr old to be, Judah!

Here below is the card I'm showcasing this week. I took a few (yes, these are just "a few" of the many cute stamps in this set!) of Melanie's images and placed them individually in the circle pattern. Aren't those images adorable?! I basically stamped them and cut them out leaving just a millimeter or so of white space around them. I adhered them to the circles using pop dots.

I used some designer paper I bought in Gatlinburg, Tn while on vacation (my husband so graciously took me to the local scrapbooking store and watched the boys in their playroom while I excitedly shopped--he's so great!). The paper is by Dream Street papers, Mod Posy-Statice. The card stock is none other than Pure Luxury Card Stock in Sweet Corn and Black Onyx. If you have never tried any of GinaK's PL card stock, you need to!!! It is such great quality, meaning it has a really nice weight to it. Try one of her assorment packs for starters (really affordable!) and you'll never go back to the other stuff again!

I am entering this card into the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week, which is to make a card with a heart on it somewhere.  Melanie's set has two super cute heart images and as you can see I used them both on my card!  :)

Thanks so much for looking and stayed tuned for more cards featuring this stamp set!  I
