Sew Pretty!

Ok, I received my StampTV GinaK Designs stamp order yesterday and I was SOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!! Today I have a card made from the stamp set called "Sew Pretty." I LOVE this set!!! It features some fun retro sewing themed stamps. Of course, if you know me, you know I love anything crafty including sewing! Once classes end in a couple of weeks, I plan on finishing my summer dress project that I started LAST spring! Goodness!

Anyway, I made this card using CPS #164 and I made it for my mother-in-laws birthday that is coming up real soon! She enjoys sewing as well and I know this retro chic is going to send a smile to her face.

I used StampTV's color challenge combo for the week, also. Thanks for looking!!! :)

Mother's Day Card

Today I have a Mother's Day card to show ya! I've been wanting to make another card for Nina Brackett's challenge this month and when I found this Mirabelle paper pack I found the inspiration I needed! :) So, if you go and check out the card I based mine on, you will see a stricking similarity! That's because I CASEd Nina's card almost completely! I used different DP, changed the lace/ribbon border abit, and used a different sentiment but the overall design came straight from her FABULOUS card! She is a super talented artist and I'm so blessed to have come across her on the net!

This will also be my entry for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge #36: to create a Mother's Day card! I think my mom will be blessed to receive this in the mail! :) I skyped with her for quite a bit last night and I was reminded how much I miss her and love her!

Well, thanks for looking and have a blessed Sunday! :)

Vintage Rose :)

Well, tonight I have a card that I made for the GinaK Designs April Release sketch challenge and am also entering into the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #35 (yes, another one!). :) I was at Hobby Lobby getting some adhesive (yea, for half off sales!!) and of course, I had to stop by the paper aisle just to see if anything caught my eye (paper was half off as well!!). Well, I came across this super yummy paper pack that I HAD to have. ;) I used it to make my card here below and there are so many more super awesome designs in the pack! I was surprised that it was made by The Paper Studio (I think this is Hobby Lobby's generic brand that they sell). The pack is called "Mirabelle" in case you want to know. It has so many awesome designs in it! Stay tuned as I'm going to be making quite a few more cards with this set! :)

Bright Sunshine!

Doesn't this card make you smile?! It is just so bright and cheery--I love it! My inspiration came from GinaK's Inspiration 20 over at StampTV.

And, again, I'm entering this one into the SSCC #35 as it have some lovely flowers on it! :) The stamped flower image is from Melanie Muenchinger's "A Year of Flowers" GKD stamp set.

Thanks for looking everyone! :)

Kinda Different

Well, I made this card for a couple of challenges and well, it turned out just "kinda different." :) I was using the Trigger from this weeks Moxie Fab World's Trigger Tuesday here. I'm not going to say too more more because think the title says it all! The stamped image came from GKD's Spring Mix kit.

I also entered this into the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #35.  This is my second entry as it is such an easy one to join in on--you just have to include flowers on your card!

Thanks for looking!!!

Acrylic Book Mark

Over at the wonderful StampTV, the weekly "Anything but a Card" challenge this week is to make an acrylic book mark! Fun, huh?! Here is my take on it! I actually embossed this image in a dark purple, colored it, cut it out then pasted it on the acrylic book mark. For the piece of acrylic I just used some packaging from a trimmer I had recently purchased. LESSON LEARNED: DONT try heat embossing directly on the acrylic! Can you guess why? Well, I did guess but I thought I would try anyway and it MELTED! (as kinda expected!). ;)

Let me know what ya think! :)

Moxie Fab World: Get Sketchy

Mornin', everyone! I have a sketch challenge entry for you this morning! I've just recently started visiting the Moxie Fab World blog and it is just such a fun one! I must admit I had to do a bit of "research" to find out what "Moxie Fab" meant (had to go all the way back to there first post to get the definition!!!): basically, anything "trendy." Could be in the paper crafting world but really it can be in any arena, clothing, home decor, etc. Of course, I'm totally into that! :)

Anyway, below here the sketch they gave us for the Get Sketchy Challenge and below that my take on it!

I used the fabulous GKD stamp set "Dream Birds" by Asela Hopkins! It was the first time I tried creating a background with a dauber and ink (I think I need more practice!!!). Anyway, let me know what ya think! :)

Lots of BLING!

Well, I thought I would enter a card into the Moxie Fab World's bling challenge but as I went to see where to enter I couldn't find the link! Oh, well!!! I must have just missed it! I did use StampTV's color challenge for this card: ocean mist blue and tan.

This was my first attemp at heat embossing and I've learned not to use textured paper! My sentiment or birds aren't as crisp because of it!

Live and learn! Let me know what you think! :)

Embossing on Foil

This past weeks "Blast from the Past" challenge on StampTV was to make a card incorporating a piece of embossed foil. I have to admit I was kind of avoiding this as I wasn't too sure if I would like the shiny foil look on a card (unless it was a really formal card, like for a wedding or something). Well, I went at it and colored the foil with a copic marker and it took a bit of the "shiny-ness" away. All in all, I don't think it turned out too bad! ;)

I used CPS sketch #163 for my outline. I thought it was a great sketch to incorporate lots of different DPs.

Well, thanks so much for looking! Let me know what you think! :)

A Few Challenges

Goodmorning, Everyone! This glorious morning I have a card I'm entering in a few challenges! First off, I'm entering it into the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #35. They challenged us to make a card with flowers on it. The verse that inspired the challenge is Isaiah 40:8, "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever." Such a wonderful and encouraging word!

The second challenge is Card Patterns sketch #60. This was a fun sketch to work with!

Last but not least is another challenge Nina Brackett is having. She made a card and we were to use it for inspiration. On her card she added a ribbon/fabric flower and that is what I took from her card for my inspiration. I just LOVE that look! This was the first time I made one of these and it was really fairly simple. I have a feeling I will be using these more often! :)

Moxie Fab Challenge

Here is my entry in the Moxie Fab Trigger Tuesday challenge. They gave us this pic here to use as our "trigger" or inspiration. I mean really, how can you not be inspired by this beautiful vase of roses!!! One, I LOVE red roses and two, those pink ones are just the perfect muted-pink color. Love how the vase is a squarish shape, too! I'm assuming it is pretty obvious where my inspiration came from!

I used GKD Melanie Muenchinger's "A Year of Flowers" stamp set for my beautiful roses. I stamp two for each rose and colored both. The rose I colored fully I paper pierced then adhered the petal pieces with glue dots. The base of my card is GinaK Designs Pure Luxury cardstock in Rocket Red.

I am also entering this in the StampTV inspiration19 challenge. The challenge was to make a card that would make someone smile. I always smile when I receive flowers (espcially, roses) so I thought i couldn't go wrong with this one!

Red, Yellow and Royal Blue

Hey, everyone! I made this card for a few different challenges this week. The sketch if from Card Patterns sketch #59. The colors are from StampTVs color challenge for the week: use red, yellow and royal blue! Nice and cheery colors, don't you think? :) And lastly, Stampin' Sisters in Christ had a challenge to make a card about peace or prayer this week. I have Nina Brackett's Vintage Borders stamp set and in it there is this wonderful "peace" sentiment stamp that I used as my sentiment.

Thanks for looking! Have a wonderful week! :)

StampTV Glitter Challenge and ABAC Challenge

Happy Sunday! This morning I have my glitter card challenge entry for you. I made this card using one of the sketchs the wonderful Sketch Master Vicki gave us a couple of weeks ago. I added glitter just to the center of the flowers and think it gave it just the right amount of pop, don't you think?! :)

Here is a close up of the glittery centers.

And here is my Anything But a Card challenge entry. This week we were to make an embellished tag--how fun! I plan on making another one so, stay tuned! :)

Enjoy this wonderful spring day!!!
Much love from South Carolina!

GinaK Designs Illustrator BlogHop Entry #2

I'm so excited to post my second entry into the GinaK Designs Illustrator BlogHop for the month of April!!! As I said in my previous post, the challenge was to make a card inspired by a favorite children's book. I chose a few books written and illustrated by Patricia Polacco to base my cards from.

Here are a few pictures from "Thunder Cake," the book that specifically inspired this card with the super cute goose on it!  :)

Well, here it is!  What do you think?  I used the GKD Spring Mix kit stamp set which was just perfect for the theme of this card (the goose!).

And here is an up close look at Gina's adorable little goose with her red and white polka dotted bow!  The flowers around the mailbox post are just the bottom part of the stamp.  The full stamp is even cuter with a little squirrel  inside the mailbox holding a letter.  :)

Well, wish me luck!  I only had two sets from March's amazing releases so just two entries for me this time!  Let me know what  you think!  ;)

GinaK Designs Illustrators Blog Hop!!!

Hello, everyone!!! I am so extremely excited about this post as I'm posting my first entry for the StampTV GinaK Designs Illustrators Blog Hop for the month of April!!! Go here for all the details on how you can play, too! :)

I have been apart of the wonderful crafting community there for about a couple months or so now and I have so enjoyed the wonderful people there and the great resources of help available, not to mention their wonderful STAMPS-they're awesome! :)

For this month's Illustrator BlogHop Challenge, Gina came up with the neatest idea:
-Choose favorite children's book and make a project inspired by the book. Include photo of book along with why you chose it and how it inspired your project.

Those who know me know that I'm a mommy to two wonderful little boys and also, that prior to mommyhood I was an elementary school teacher. So, as you can imagine, when I read what the challenge was I was thrilled! Of course, there are just so many books to choose from but one particular author came quickly to mind, Patricia Polacco. If you haven't had the chance to read (or just look at!) her childrens books, you should; they are so heartwarming and her illustrations are so vibrant and fun! My first time reading one of her books was my first year teaching, as one of her stories was in our reading textbook. I enjoyed reading Thunder Cake to my class year after year. As you'll see in the pics below, Patricia Polacco is an amazing illustrator and her drawings in these books is what inspired my cards for this challenge. Below are some pictures from "Thunder Cake," "My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother," and "The Keeping Quilt":

As you can see, Patricia is an amazing illustrator and I just couldn't help but think that Nina Brackett's new stamp set, Nana's Needlework, would be just perfect for a card inspired by these books! Here is my card:

Below are some close ups of the details in my card. In this next picture, I used one of the flower stamps in Nina's set with a button in the middle to place on my bow. You also see a little bit of how I used parts of Nina's wooden shelf to create a frame for setting the sentiment in! It was super easy and I was so excited when I realized that I now have two uses for that stamp!!! :)

In this picture you see the shelf I colored in copics and the doily and hanky the tea cups are sitting on. I used Nina's hanky from her Lovely Shelf set to compliment the doily. Also, you see my patchwork quilt! I paper pieced the entire thing using Basic Grey's June Bug line. I thought the colors and patterns were perfect! They have that old timey, perfect-for-patchwork- kinda feel don't you think? :)

And finally the tea kettle and tea cups! I paper pierced these as well (one of my favorite techniques if you haven't guessed by now!).

Thanks so much for looking and wish me luck as which ever card entry catches Gina's eye will earn a spot as GUEST DESIGNER for the month of April!  What an honor (and what fun!!!) that would be!  :)
